Tanfield Railway operates steam trains every Sunday throughout the year and Wednesdays and Thursdays during the school summer holidays.

Gibside Chapel (4 miles)

Gibside is a 'forest garden' embracing many miles of walks. There are several outstanding buildings, including a Palladian chapel, Column to Liberty, greenhouse and stables.

There is a bus stop with an hourly service to Newcastle Railway Station with regular main line services. York is just 1 hour while Edinburgh is only 2 hours away.
