Beamish Museum (2 miles)
North of England Open Air Museum, where the past comes to life. Beamish is unique. It's no ordinary museum but a working experience of life as it was in the Great North in the early 1800s and 1900s.

Alnwick Garden, Alnwick Castle (40 miles)
Alnwick Garden in Northumberland is an exciting contemporary garden. Some of you may recognise Alnwick Castle as a film location for Harry Potter, Elizabeth and many more.

Angel of North (3 miles)
The Angel of the North's wide, open arms greet visitors as they reach Gateshead, whether they come by road or rail.

Hadrian's Wall
Hadrian's Wall was constructed over a period of six years by order of the Emperor Hadrian, who came to Britain in AD 122. Today, the area between South Shields and Ravenglass is studded with forts, milecastles, temples and turrets.

Durham City (15 miles)
The city can trace its history back a thousand years, to the arrival of a religious community seeking a resting place. As a shrine for their saint, they built a stone church, on top of a rocky hill, protected on three sides by the River Wear.

The North East has far more to offer, here are just a few extra ideas from a seemingly endless array of days out.
Durham Country cricket club is 10 miles away. For the golfing enthusiast there is a 9-hole golf course and driving range opposite our apartments and numerous courses area.
You could also visit, the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, the Hancock Museum in Newcastle and Cragside Hall & Gardens at Rothbury.
The Theatre Royal in Newcastle stages major theatrical productions and no visit to the North East would be complete without visiting Durham City which is a designated World Heritage with its magnificent Cathedral and Castle.
